چکیده

In this paper, the effect of different shapes tool pin on plastic flow 2024-T6 aluminum alloy during friction stir welding was studied. order to observe materials more clearly, we chose method dissimilar materials, considering corrosive characteristics alloys made when exposed same liquid. By studying and comparing temperature field, macro microstructure, microhardness tensile properties welded joints, results indicated that metal in weld nugget zone (WNZ) mainly came from base advancing side, thread being driving force downward movement FSW metal. The deep groove had strongest ability drive downward. conical cam stirring best fluidity. macroscopic morphology, mechanical fracture morphology joints were analyzed, showed all could form an excellent union, with onion ring pattern appearing cross-section. minimum grain size WNZ formed by head 7~12 μm; hardness least at junction heat affected (HAZ) thermo-mechanically (TMAZ). However, point higher than other heads; strength 80% BM, maximum joint 364.27 MPa, accounting for 86.73% (BM). elongation after break 14.95%. Tensile analysis fractured fracture.

Multi-Track Friction Stir Lap Welding of 2024 Aluminum Alloy: Processing, Microstructure and Mechanical Properties

Friction stir lap welding (FSLW) raises the possibility of fabricating high-performance aluminum components at low cost and high efficiency. In this study, we mainly applied FSLW to fabricate multi-track 2024 aluminum alloy without using tool tilt angle, which is important for obtaining defect-free joint but significantly increases equipment cost. Firstly, systematic single-track FSLW experimen...

Tensile properties and fracture locations of friction-stir-welded joints of 2017-T351 aluminum alloy

Friction stir welding (FSW) is a new and promising welding process that can produce low-cost and high-quality joints of heat-treatable aluminum alloys because it does not need consumable filler materials and can eliminate some welding defects such as crack and porosity. In order to demonstrate the friction stir weldability of the 2017-T351 aluminum alloy and determine optimum welding parameters...

Fatigue of Friction Stir Welded 2024-T351 Aluminium Alloy

Fatigue failure characteristics of friction stir welds in 13mm gauge 2024-T351 plate have been assessed. Failure occurred from either the weld region (nugget/flow arm) or from the material immediately surrounding the weld. Fatigue failure from the surrounding material was essentially conventional, initiating from large S-phase intermetallic particles and growing in a macroscopic mode I manner. ...

Microstructure and Crystallographic Texture Characterization of Friction Stir Welded Thin AA2024 Aluminum Alloy

Friction stir welding (FSW) is a promising technique to join aluminum alloys without having problems encountered during fusion welding processes. In the present work, the evolution of microstructure and texture in friction stir welded thin AA2024 aluminum alloy are examined by electron backscattered diffraction (EBSD) technique. The sheets with 0.8 mm thickness were successfully welded by frict...

Effect of Heat Input on Tensile Properties of Friction Stir Welded AA6061-T6 and AA7075-T6 Dissimilar Aluminum Alloy Joints

Friction Stir Welding (FSW) is a solid state process widely used to join dissimilar aluminium alloys. High quality and strength joints can be fabricated using this technique when compared to other conventional methods. The welding parameters play major role in determining the quality of the weld. This paper aims in presenting the effect of heat input on tensile properties of the joints between ...
